Alex has experience working with clients as young as four and adults in the geriatric population dealing with a wide variety of diagnoses and difficulties. He has worked within a variety of practice settings and strives to be multiculturally competent, having spent a total of 19 weeks serving individuals in the Dominican Republic, Mongolia and South Korea.
Alex currently works with couples as well as individuals carrying the weight of depression, PTSD, various forms of anxiety, unwanted sexual behavior, sexuality, existential crises, grief, career issues and anger.
With couples, he uses Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), which is a therapy style based in attachment theory and focuses on bringing healthy connection and new meaning to families, couples, and individuals. The goal of EFT is to initiate new cycles of interaction that create secure and lasting bonds within relationships.
Alex believes that life is hard, pain and suffering are real, and no one is immune. However, he sees the true self as a source of power created with meaning, purpose and value, which makes healing possible, change achievable and renewal attainable. While manifestations vary, Alex holds that most people long for purpose, meaning and direction in life. Perhaps more than ever before, this is a time in which people are on a quest to discover these longings, but this can be a difficult journey with potential obstacles and hindrances. Alex is therefore convicted to help and be a facilitator of healing, discovery and revelation within the lives of people. He is honored to sit with people and join with people in life, and he would tell you, “You don’t have to do this alone.”
Alex met his wife during college, and they are best friends. They both love hiking, playing tennis, drinking coffee and going on adventures with their two sons. Alex enjoys listening to vinyl records, reading and writing.
