Men’s Sexual Addiction Intensive

What is Sex Addiction?

Sexual addiction is defined as any sexually-related, compulsive behavior which interferes with normal living and causes severe stress on family, friends, loved ones, and possibly one’s work environment. Sex addiction is essentially an intimacy disorder that results in cycles of avoidance, acting out and deep shame.

Approximately 6-10 million men suffer from an addiction to pornography or other sexual addictions. The Internet (apps, social media, etc) has made it much easier for individuals to anonymously hook-up as well as obtain addictive sexual content including pornography and chat rooms.

We believe the main issue of sexually compulsive behavior is not the need for sex, rather, it is to control and avoid relational pain and emotional and/or spiritual wounds.

What is a Men’s Sex Addiction Intensive?

A Men’s Sex Addiction Intensive is customized to meet the specific needs and goals of the client and to help provide them treatment that includes a roadmap to freedom from their unwanted sexual addiction.

The intensive counseling process helps the client to break out of emotional and spiritual isolation and shame. Some other benefits of treatment include identification of the root cause of addiction, identification and treatment of unresolved trauma, emotional and spiritual restoration, along with a clear roadmap, tools and resources for the continued road to recovery.

What is the format for a Men’s Sex Addiction Intensive?

An intensive format differs from traditional counseling and can provide a client much more “traction” in a shorter timeframe as they navigate their way out of the addiction.

Typically, this intensive is structured so that the client meets 4 hours per day for 2-5 consecutive days with either Sean McDonald, Vance Crow, or Alex Samuel. A 30-minute phone consultation takes place before the intensive to better understand the situation, customize the treatment plan, and assign “pre-work” to the participant. Additionally, a 30-minute follow-up phone call is scheduled a month after the intensive for after care needs.

Daily tasks are also assigned during the intensive and it is strongly encouraged that the participant complete the work outside of the therapy sessions to maximize the benefit of the counseling process. There will also be many recommended resources given to the client before and during therapy such as podcasts, book recommendations, and articles that will help with recovery.
